Membership Recruitment Ideas

Think about what made you want to join FBLA. Was it a friend who was already a member, a flyer advertising food if you showed up to hear people talk about FBLA, or simply you were. curious. Alright, now use that when trying to find ways to recruit members. But to make your job a little easier here are some tips to recruit more members.

  • FOOD is a great way to get people to show up to anything. Make some flyers advertising your next meeting and include that everyone who shows up gets (Pizza, Doughnuts, Ice Cream, …) whatever incentive you chose.
  • CLUB FAIRS are much like a college fair. Invite all the clubs in your school to set up booths talking about their clubs and advertise FBLA there.
  • PHOTOS of events your FBLA chapter has attended can be added to a bulletin board. People always like taking field trips to learn about different career options. So, show people what kind of activities your chapter does, such as fundraisers, Fall Conferences, SBLC, and NLC.
  • INTEREST can be sparked in classes that relate to FBLA like business classes, health classes, computer classes, etc., because FBLA is so diverse any class could have potential FBLA members in it. Talk to the teachers in your entire school about spreading the word.

The other thing that goes along with recruiting members is keeping members. Make sure to do things throughout the year to reward the members you already have. Activities like a Secret Santa party prior to Winter Break or an End-of-Year party that let people know they are appreciated for the time, effort, and work they contribute to their chapter.
